Richard Burkhauser

The American Enterprise Institute

Richard Burkhauser is currently a Visiting Scholar at the American Enterprise Institute and is the Sarah Gibson Blanding Professor of Policy Analysis, teaching policy analysis and economics at Cornell University.  He is also the Co-Principal Investigator of the Center for Economic Research on Employment Policy for Persons with Disabilities and the Center on Disability Demographics and Statistics.  For the last eight years, Burkhauser has also been a research professor at the German Institute for Economic Research and has taught at various institutions in Australia, Germany, the Netherlands and the United States.  His expertise in how public policies affect the economic behavior and well-being of vulnerable populations has made him a valuable resource to government agencies, policy makers and consumers.  In addition to his numerous publications produced over the last 30 years, Burkhauser has coauthored three forthcoming works of interest:  "Income Security for Workers: A Stressed Support System in Need of Innovation," "Institutional Responses to Structural Lag: The Changing Patterns of Work at Older Ages," and "How Postsecondary Education Improves Adult Outcomes for Supplemental Security Income Children with Severe Hearing Impairments."
